Better Barrhead Projects

Commercial Enhancement Zones

Barrhead is fortunate to have two vibrant and well used commercial streets within the town centre., Main Street and Cross Arthurlie Street. Both of these streets will be covered by the new Commercial Enhancement Zones. These zones are basically a partnership between the regeneration team, local businesses and the community where we will agree on the best ways to improve the local environment and to support existing and new trade.

The end aim of the Enhancement Zones is to ensure that both Main Street and Cross Arthurlie Street benefit from an improved environment and retain their important role in the life of the town.

Carlibar Park

The reshaping of the green space within the town centre will provide potential for creating a new town park with integrated recreational and play facilities. Following the course of the River Levern and taking in Centenary Park, this new linear park will be designed in such a way as to properly integrate the new buildings with the greenspaces.

Cross Arthurlie Street Public Realm Improvement

East Renfrewshire Council and Gillespies will be holding a drop-in session on Thursday 11th February at Voluntary Action Undercover between 12noon and 7pm. Local residents and businesses are encouraged to drop in to vote for their preferred styles of street furniture for Cross Arthurlie Street. The results of the vote will be available on this website by the end of February. View this drop in day document(pdf, 979kb)  for further information
